OUR HISTORY
-
In October of 1987, following the fatal sexual assault of community member Shirley Collins, a dynamic, multidisciplinary group of community members came together to take action. In 1989, Citizens Against Sexual Assault (CASA) began providing services to the community.
In 2007, the organization changed its name to Collins Center to honor the memory of Shirley Collins and to encompass its widening services of prevention programming and therapy.
In 2008, the Collins Center expanded to include the community’s Child Advocacy Center, which became nationally accredited in 2016.
-
Collins Center has a dedicated staff, board of directors, interns, and volunteers. The organization provides direct services to over 500 individuals and reaches approximately 3,000 people through prevention and educational outreach annually.
In 2022, the Child Advocacy Center formally expanded to serve children in neighboring Page County.
